The above chart is based on flatwork (cement); therefore, it is only appoximated for stone 3/4" to 3" size.
3" depth is recommended for maximum coverage.
If the ground isn't level, then add extra tonage.
For soil figure 20% less tonage.
For sand figure 20% more tonage.
For large stone, double or even triple tonage needed.
For mulch, use yrd. coverage formula.
ESTIMATED CU YRD COVERAGE FOR MULCH:
Total Sq Ft. divided by 27 = CU YRDS (12” deep)
CU YRDS divided by 12 = 1” deep
X 2 = 2” deep
X 3 = 3” deep
X 4 = 4” deep |
EXAMPLE: I have 460 sq ft. and I
want coverage 3” deep
460 (divided by 27) = 17.04
17.04 (divided by 12) = 1.42
1.42 X 3 = 4.26
I need ~ 4 ½ yards |
FLAGSTONE:
Flagstone coverage: 1 Ton (2000 lbs.) covers appoxiametly 80-90 square feet.
Coverage will vary based on flagstone thickness and spacing.
